we can summarise the different ways in which interactivity adds value and resolves conflicts in representations - and use this to help suggest ways in which interactivity can help
high... we’ve seen how maps, train timetables. multiple graphs all benefit from interactive highlighting (don’t forget colour, shape etc which give rapid visual discrimination)
drill ... large data sets, show the data progressively using for instance, outliner views
over ... zooming using perhaps fish eye views to control the resolution of detail or hyperlinks to give extra detail
change params... keep the same view but change some parameters of the representation eg stacked histogram
change rep.... eg user can swap between a table and graphical views
temporal .... linking multiple representations using time & interactivity .... discrete time multiplexed/continuous time multiplexed/time connected, space multiplexed
