Task-centered Information Management

TIM was originally Task 4.8 of DELOS the EU Network of Excellence on Digital Libraries under WP4 User Interfaces and Vizualisation. The DELOS project has now ended, but the partneers continue to devleop the work.

Aims

TIM is focused on the task-oriented modeling of user interaction in digital libraries, with the final goal of realizing a system able to learn the way in which users carry out typical tasks and then almost automatically reproduce them.

Key aspects incude:

• personal ontology – personally meaningful concepts, for example Friends, Hobbies, Projects
• semantic save – organisation of files, emails etc., by tagging them with concepts in the personal ontology
• task interactions using ontology - triggering tasks from relevant ontology points and suggesting suitable
• task inference – building more complex task sequences by monitoring user actions
