Away from haute couture fashion is a pile ’em high sell ’em cheap business. You may find a garment that you love, but your size isn’t in stock, or you may be taller or shorter than the average, and the cut does not work for you.
Imagine if clothes were part produced in areas where there is cheaper labour and production, but finished closer to the consumer. You go into the shop, find the garment you like, are digitally measured and a day or two later a garment perfectly fitting you is delivered either to the shop or to your home.
This could bring great consumer choice and quality, but also create skilled and semi-skilled manual jobs closer to markets, in areas where such jobs are in short supply
