Cameras are used in computer vision both in controlled enviornments, such as factory automation, and in the outside world, such as CCTV cameras in public spaces. Good quality video cameras are now both small and relatively cheap enabling applications such as activity recognition for domestic applications and facial recognition by the police. As cameras are now so ubiquitous and also may be unobtrusive, there are concerns regarding privacy and surveilance.
