cloud computation

Terms from Artificial Intelligence: humans at the heart of algorithms

The glossary is being gradually proof checked, but currently has many typos and misspellings.

Cloud computing is when computation is performed in remote data centres rather than in known, local computers. In some cases you have one or more dedicated computers, or some computers (or virtual computers) are started and stopped on request, and sometimes code is completely serverless, executing wherever there is capacity. In most cases the physical infrastructure is managed by a separate company who provide compute as a service.
