Design fiction is the use of fictional stories or scenarios in order to explore the potential implications of new devices or technology including ones not yet implemented. This may include many potential knock-on effects, such as physical interactions between things, ethical issues, or envronmental impact. The use of realistic, albeit fictional, accounts helps designers or focus groups to work through these implications more easily than more abstract descriptions.
