In the brain there are more glial cells than neurones. Fpr many years glial cells were believed to only have a supporting role for neoroens, and that all cognitive activity happened through the growth, interconnectsions and electrical fiting of neurones. However, more recently there have been suggestions that glial cells have a larger role in cognition.
