memorising

Terms from Artificial Intelligence: humans at the heart of algorithms

Page numbers are for draft copy at present; they will be replaced with correct numbers when final book is formatted. Chapter numbers are correct and will not change now.

Memorising keeps track of previous results so that they do not be recalculated. This can make computation faster and more efficient. Memorisation can also prevent infinite regress In the case of networks or other representations where the same node may be revisited in a cycle. Sometimes this is also called a memo fucntion.
