pre-whitening

Terms from Artificial Intelligence: humans at the heart of algorithms

Often data values are transformed to make them more like a standard distribution. This process is called pre-whetning, especially for temporal data when the goal is to transform the data to be more like white noise. Other examples are transforming data to make it more like a Normal distribution of log transforms of timing data.
