Robots are being used increasingly in military situations. The earliest use was for bomb clearance, tyically controlled by a human operator. Recent conflicts have seen huge numbers of aerial drones deployed on the battelfield and smaller number of land-based robots and marine drones. So far these all include a human in the loop to make the final decison about an attack, but with increasing levels of semi-automation. There are movements in the UN and other international bodies to ban the use of fully autonomous weapons.
