Robots are often large and heavy and hence safety can be an issue. In a factory robots may operate at a fixed location, making ot posible to prevent people form being close to the robots. In warehouses or the wider environments, fail-safe mechanisms to detect other people and avoid accidents are even more critical. This has become a major barrier to the widespread deployment of autonomous vehicles.
