If AI systems are to be used effectuvely humans needto trust them. In paert this is due to where they are sufficently accurate or reliable, but even the best AI system will not be used unless people believe ot to be reliable. transparency and explainable AI can help to generate trust, jsut as we are more trusting fo people who do nto see to be hding things. In addition, the way in which AI is embedded within a user interactions cam change the etxent to whic it is trusted, and also the robustness of the complet human--AI system, for example by presenting multiple reuslts with confidence values rather than a single answer.
