AI, in particular LLMs have been used to generate personas. This has advantages in that it is possible to rapidly create personas with many different characteristics. However, this automatic generation has risks. First, while they may aid design, they should not be a substutute for engagement with real users. Second, LLMs frequently embody bias from the data on which they have been trained.
