Terms from Human Computer Interaction the Basics

The glossary is in progress.

Personalisation refers to ways in which software or hardware is made specific to the indivdiual. It often includes aesthetic elements, such as a decorated phone case, as well as functional ones, such as the choice of language. In some cases, personalisation is carried out by the user themselves, in which case it is often also termed customisation. In other cases, it may be managed by the system autonomously, including the use of AI, in which case it is also termed adaptation.
