User experience design is the process of creating a complete end-to-end user experience, taking into account the way a single product is used within a social and techncal context by a diversity of users and affecting wider stakeholders. UX design is usually the result of an iterative design process, one of the inner parts of which is (confusingly) also labelled 'design'.
For most purposes user experience design and interaction design are effectively synonymous reflecting a 'rebranding'. Sometimes fine distinctions are made between the two, with interaction design being used to refer to direct interaction with the product, but in reality many interaction designers always took a broad view of their role.
