focus (camera)

Terms from Artificial Intelligence: humans at the heart of algorithms

The glossary is being gradually proof checked, but currently has many typos and misspellings.

The focus of a camera determines the distance at which objects are most sharp. One might focus on a close object, such as flower, but then the background might be blurred, or alternatively on the far distance, but then closer items may be blurred. The focus interacts with the aperture to determin the depth of flield; with a very small aperture one might be able to have both further and closer items in focus.
