Qualia is a term from the philosophy of {[consciousness}}. It refers to the way that when we see a red object it is not merely a fact that it is red, but we have a subjective experince of redness. Note that we may all actually have a different idea of redness, but the very fact the we have an internal experience at all is the qualia.
