Cauchy distribution

Terms from Statistics for HCI: Making Sense of Quantitative Data

A bell-shaped distribution often used for unbounded value ranges in Bayesian statistics. Similar to a Normal distribution but with fatter edges (tails). It is a symmetric distribution with infinite variance. The formula for the simple case with mean 0 is 1/π(1+x2).
