ELIE, village and parish on south coast of Fife. The village stands on bay of its own name, 5 miles east-south-east of Largo, is a sea-bathing resort, and has a post office, with money order and telegraph departments, designated of Fife, a banking office, an inn, a harbour, Established and Free churches, and a public school with about 108 scholars. Pop. 625. The parish is intersected by Kilconquhar, measures about 4 miles by 2J, and comprises 2020 acres. Real property in 1880-81, 7198. Pop. 664. The shore is sandy, and the land is mostly flat. Elie House is a mansion of about 1675.
